Council's Community Services Committee has formed a working party to establish a Christmas celebration plan for Oberon, with the aim being to have bigger celebrations each year.
It is envisaged that the decorations for 2019 will be installed in the first week in December and taken down in early January 2020.

In Cr Brenda Lyon's report to council, it said the working party would like to establish a Christmas Grotto in Ross Street, between Oberon Street and Tally's Lane.
"The grotto is a small cave where Santa will be available for photos," the report said.
"The event will be held over four days, from December 13 to 16.
"Christmas decorations will include a large inflatable 4.3 metre Santa for display in the L J Hooker Real Estate front yard.
"L J Hooker has kindly offered to donate the electricity required to inflate the Santa on a daily basis.
"We will decorate four buildings around the intersection of Ross and Oberon streets with large garlands and wreaths with baubles.
"The businesses have been approached and are prepared to allow council to place temporary decorations on their buildings."

In Apex Park, 8000 small tree lights will be placed on the main conifer tree in Rupert Street.
"Council will need to work with the electricity provider and local electricians to sort out the connection of electricity," Cr Lyon's report said.
Cr Lyon said they will approach all the businesses in the Oberon township to decorate their shops or business.
Donated pine trees that will line the grotto will be sold at the conclusion of the event and funds raised in 2019 will be donated to Oberon Can Assist.
The grotto will include pine trees donated by Forests NSW housed in planter boxes constructed from pallets donated by Highland Pine and made by Oberon Men's Shed; a Santa chair; two large, life-size nut crackers at the grotto entrance; volunteers dressed in festive costumes, handing out candy canes; Christmas busking; a possible performance by the Ozy Youth Choir and Christmas music playing throughout the event.
The Christmas Grotto will be packed up each evening.
The Community Services Committee working party will ask the Oberon Correctional Centre for help with setting up and dismantling the grotto.
