The Community Services Committee will form a working party, from members of the committee or invited members, to look at Christmas celebrations for 2019.
The committee asked council to provide an in-principle budget of $10,000 for the Christmas celebrations.
Cr Andrew McKibbin said he thought $10,000 was a bit high, while Cr Brenda Lyon said they were looking at different lighting that can be used annually.
A report will be brought back to council with a scope and budget after consultation with the working party.
