Member for Bathurst Paul Toole was in Oberon on Tuesday night to announce that the NSW Government would commit $2m to Oberon Council’s plan to develop a greenfield site for a complex that incorporates rugby league, netball and hockey.
Council wants to develop an eight-hectare parcel of land on the corner of O'Connell Road and Albion Street that will become the new home of the Oberon Tigers.

“This is a 10-year plan, and with this commitment to get the project off and running it is not just a dream, but something that can make long-term gains for the community,” Mr Toole said.
“It’s something that Oberon has been asking for, but is also an initiative that is being welcomed as it has the potential to make sport another driver for the local economy.”
Oberon mayor Kathy Sajowitz joined Mr Toole to deliver the news to the Tigers’ players, officials and supporters before training on Tuesday night.
“Plans have been on public exhibition and there’s been so much positive feedback as people can see what the bigger picture holds for the community,” she said.
Oberon Tigers Senior Rugby League Club president Ian Christie-Johnston said the new complex would give the club the chance "to offer potential players the best facilities and a culture that makes them want to stay with the Tigers in the longer term and you can’t do much better than that”.
