The Bureau of Meteorology’s Jason Gleadhill said he’s hoping to finalise a new person in the coming weeks.
“We’ve received some responses and we’re currently in the process of hopefully finding someone to do it,” he said.
“We’re still waiting on new equipment because the new recorder will be based at an old site.”
Oberon’s daily observation has not been updated on the bureau's website since July 16.
Ms Armstrong was previously the Oberon weather recorder for 11 years.
Oberon's rainfall has been recorded for the bureau since 1888 and temperatures since 1946.
Statistics provided to the bureau are vital as they determine the long-term averages for the region.
