We are fortunate that we have been able to play golf and enjoy the outdoors in the lovely spring weather. It may be that in the future, fully vaccinated players will play in groups of four and unvaccinated will be limited to groups of two.
There were 35 golfers on the course for the Thursday 12 social handicap event. That is one of the biggest fields ever on a Thursday. Don Miller was soaking up the sunshine and had a good round for 28 points to be the winner. Marty Hotham was the runner up. Balls went to Paul Behan, Les Handicott, Peter Ryan, Peter Griffiths, Shannon Foley, Dave Campbell, Mark Mathews, Larry Williams, Justin Evans and Eric Whalan.
The brilliant spring weather of early in the week escaped us on Saturday, never the less there was a good rollup of golfers. Forty-six players teed off for an eighteen-hole Par event. There were quite a few players who didn't complete the round due to the heavy rain.
More news:
Jason Sargent handled the conditions well and his square round made him the A grade winner. Rob McGrath was the runner up with -1. Dave Campbell wasn't deterred by the rain and his round of +1 made him the B grade winner. Richard Gear was the runner up on a countback with +1. Katie Graham has been in good form lately and her round of -1 gave her a win in the ladies event, Robyn Stapleton was the runner up with -2.
Balls went to Marty Hotham, Anthony Miller, Dennis O'Connell, Kim Rawlings, Terry Robinson, Andrew Yeo, Anthony McGrath, Kevin McGrath, Laurie Murphy and Lenore Zamparini.
Mark Mathews was nearest the pin on the 1st hole and Katie Graham was closest on the 17th.
The highlight of the day was an eagle on the third hole by Richard Gear, Richard drove the green and his ball ended up just a few centimetres from the pin.
Renovation of the greens begins this week, all able-bodied people with a few hours of time will be needed to get the job next Sunday and Monday.
