It must have been the couple of weeks with no golf that had them all turning up for a game in the sunshine.
There were 23 golfers on Thursday afternoon enjoying a bit of sun.
Hamish Gidley-Baird had a good day with the sticks and his 29 points were enough for a win. Tim Arnison wasn't far behind to be the runner-up.
Balls went to Barry Stubbs, Phil Cummings, Alan Cairney, Glen Murray, Barry Hore, Sean Mooney, Irene Bishop and Peter Ryan.
We played an 18-hole stableford event on Saturday on a very pleasant winter's afternoon.
There was a large field of 42 golfers out to prove themselves after a couple of weeks with no golf.
Rob McGrath played a match with Dennis O'Connell and had to work hard to beat Dennis. Rob's 38 points were enough to win A grade. Blake Miller had a good round for 37 points to be runner-up.
Sean Mooney has worked his game out and continued his run of good form to win B grade with 38 points. Anthony Miller was the runner-up with 37 points.
Bill Wilcox was closest to the pin on the first hole and Bob Rickard was closest on the 17th.
Balls went to Alan Cairney, Peter Hutchinson, Terry Robinson, Dennis O'Connell, Katie Graham, Peter Ryan, Phil Cummings, David King, Kevin Whalan and Laurie Murphy.
The winter match play is progressing well.
The result of matches played on Saturday was Chris Lord over the defending champion Adrian Poulten on the 19th; Rob McGrath over Dennis O'Connell; Marty Hotham over Mick English.
Hopefully the remaining matches will be played next week.
We have been privileged to have Reckless Brewing sponsoring the match play this year.
They brew some specialty beers that are available in the club.
A note for all our golfers: from August 1, preferred lies will be fairways only.
