FIFTEEN golfers braved the chill last Thursday afternoon and, despite the small field, there were some pretty handy scores.

David Zhou continued his run of form to win with a fine round for 28 points. Balls went to Andrew Yeo, Peter Ryan, Hamish Gidley-Baird and Tim Arnison.
Saturday started out with some sunshine, however, as the day progressed, the cloud and wind rolled in.
Nevertheless, some of our golfers produced some of their best golf.
Kim Rawlings responded to the pressure of match play to win both his match and A grade with a good round of +3. Chris Lord also won his match and, with +3, was the runner-up on a countback.
Phil Cummings won B grade with -1, but lost his match. Laurie Murphy was the runner-up with a steady round of -2.
Laurie was nearest the pin on the first hole at 12 metres from the pin - not very close, really. Marty Hotham was closest to the pin on the seventh hole at 2.7 metres.
Balls went to Alan Cairney, Barry Lang, Adrian Poulten, Peter Ryan, Neil Whalan, Kevin McGrath and Anthony Miller.
The winter match play is progressing well with a good number of the first round matches played.
Alan Cairney won his with Katie Graham, Barry Lang won his match with Anthony McGrath, Kim Rawlings won over David Zhou, Anthony Miller won over Andrew Yeo, Chris Lord won over Paul Behan, and Kevin McGrath won over Phil Cummings.
Those remaining matches should be played in the next couple of weeks so that the second round can be played.
There are a few limbs down on the course, so some volunteer work would be a great help to remove them.
