To find that very special mothers day gift make sure you visit the hospital auxiliary street stall in the main street street on Friday, May 7. As well as delicious baked goods, you will find hand-made craft items. Money raised will help the auxiliary fund the purchase of a new bed for the emergency department. Donations can also be mailed to Oberon Hospital Auxiliary, PO Box 417, Oberon.

Waste to Art exhibition
Coming up
The Waste to Art Competition is not too far off. The community traditionally supports this competition to raise the awareness of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" and looking at ways we deal with waste. This year's theme is "aluminium and steel cans". The exhibition runs from May 12 to 15. Category winners progress to regional competition in July. Contact Kathy Sajowitz for more information.
Blokes Don't Talk

Bathurst playwright Vince Melton first wrote Blokes Don't Talk as a series of monologues based on personal stories men would share at their local pub over a few drinks. It's been turned into a seven-part series, which is running on community station 2MCE on Tuesdays. Put it in the diary to tune in.
Festival of bells
Free event + road trip
The first Festival of Bells will kick off on May 7 for three days of music from carillonists from across Australia. It will be centred on the War Memorial Carillon in Kings Parade. What can you expect? More than 200 performers (including carillonists) from schools, orchestras and bands. Entry is by ticket on from bathurstregion.com.au/festival-of-bells/. Free.

Enjoy the delights of an autumn high tea at Abercrombie House. There will be sweet and savoury delights, leaf tea to sup and plunger coffee (if that is your preferred beverage). While you enjoy your repast you can list to the strains of a classical Celtic harpist. You'll also have the chance to explore the main rooms of the house and the gardens.
