The Oberon Fishing Club folded a couple of years ago and former president Peter Brennan said funds raised through raffles were just sitting in the bank.
"We thought Oberon Can Assist helps those locals in need and the club's cheque for $1991.37 can help in a small way," he said.
Oberon Can Assist president Brenda Armstrong said the committee appreciates the donation.
Mrs Armstrong said they have helped 22 individuals so far in 2021 - 16 males aged over 50, five females aged over 50 and one under 18 years old.
"As you can see by the numbers, there are people requiring financial assistance and a donation such as this will help our support network," Mrs Armstrong said.
"The generous support and donations received from everyone make it possible for our organisation to exist and to continue the support of those and their families who are affected by cancer.
"We provide financial assistance and practical support to members of our local community. If you know someone out there who is struggling to cover the costs of their cancer treatment in our local community, please shout out to them.
"We are local and here to help our local community.
"Committee members know the uphill battle families can go through when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer. The trauma can be mind-blowing in more ways than one, but to know financial assistance is available can often lessen the impact."
Can Assist's support is offered in different ways: from travel expenses and medications to utility bills and vehicle maintenance.
"We say a huge thank you to the former Oberon Fishing Club for the generous donation that will help families in the local area," Mrs Armstrong said.
