OBERON Hospital has escaped with minor damage after Boxing Day storms led to several sections of the hospital being flooded.

Senior Firefighter, Brian Webster, said the storms had caused a number of issues for the hospital, along with other premises in the area including a nursing home and the Fire Station.

"The storms flooded numerous areas in the hospital including the A&E department, X-ray department and several office areas," he said.

"This led to the A&E department being shut down with A&E calls diverted to Blayney and Bathurst.

"Sections of the hospital also had to be evacuated, but luckily the damage doesn't appear too major.

"Large amounts of hail and ice have built up in the gutters, blocking them and causing the flooding to occur.

A spokesperson from Western NSW Health said normal operations were able to be resumed quickly.

"The damage was only minor and with the cleanup conducted overnight, services were able to return to normal the next day," she said.
