Firstly, with trout releases in Lake Oberon, and following up with a release of 10,000 rainbow fingerlings in the Fish River last week.
The trout released are usually fry 25 millimetres long, but this year, fingerling size rainbow trout, approximately 100mm long, are being trialled in the Fish River.
Three sites were selected for release to maximise the fish's survival. The idea behind the bigger fish is hopefully a better survival rate and quicker growth.
This follows a release of 100 70-centimetre long rainbow trout broodstock in August, with some weighing up to four kilograms.
Fisheries experts say they have chosen to stock Oberon Dam because it has one of the best environments for these fish to grow.
Recreational fishers are reminded that they are required to carry a current NSW recreational fishing fee receipt at all times while fishing.
