SLOW DOWN
LOCAL police would like to advise that the statewide Slow Down 2020 traffic enforcement operation will be conducted from 12.01am this Friday, October 2 to 11.59pm this Monday, October 5. The operation will specifically target major factors contributing to road trauma, being excessive or inappropriate speed; alcohol and drug driving; fatigue; non-wearing of occupant restraints and helmets; and distractions (mobile phones, etc). Double demerit points will apply and local police are appealing to drivers to drive safely and plan their trip (if they are going away) to reduce fatigue levels. Local police and Highway Patrol units will be out in numbers over the weekend to encourage responsible driving and reduce road trauma.
