This year the awards include two new categories, One to Watch and NSW Woman of Excellence, which respectively recognise young rising stars and women who are exceptional role models.
I'm sure our community will get behind this program and submit a nomination.
The new One to Watch honour is about celebrating a group of girls from seven to 17 who are emerging as future leaders through their acts of kindness, strength and determination.
The 2021 award categories are: The Premier's Award for Woman of the Year, NSW Woman of Excellence, NSW Community Hero, NSW Young Woman of the Year, NSW Regional Woman of the Year, NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year, NSW One to Watch Award.
Nominations close on September 22. For more information, visit www.women.nsw.gov.au.
GRANDPARENTS' DAY
THEY are the smiling faces that light up the world for their grandchildren, as well as being a welcome helping hand for parents.
Now it's time to say a big thank you to these very special people by nominating someone for the Local Grandparent of the Year for the Bathurst Electorate.
Local Grandparent of the Year Awards are a highlight of Grandparents' Day, which will be celebrated on Sunday, October 25.
There's no denying it's been tough on our grandparents this year with COVID-19 meaning they have had to isolate more than most to keep themselves safe. That means they haven't been able to see their family members as much, but they have still been there for us on the phone and via video calls.
Grandparents' Day is the perfect opportunity to show grandparents just how much they are loved and appreciated.
Nominations close at midnight on September 30, 2020. Email bathurst@parliament.nsw.gov.au or, for more information, visit www.grandparentsday.nsw.gov.au/
REPRESENTATIVE AWARDS
ANY time a person is recognised with state representation is a very special occasion in their life.
Nominations are now open for the NSW Government State Representative Award.
Nominees of any age who have represented NSW in a competitive field such as sport, music, the arts or academic, either nationally or internationally, may be eligible.
I know there are many deserving residents across the Bathurst Electorate who would qualify for this award and I would welcome their submission to bathurst@parliament.nsw.gov.au for endorsement before being submitted to the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet.
