Local government authorities have been invited to submit applications to the Regional Roads Reclassification Panel for nominated road reclassification.
Oberon Council moved a recommendation at a recent meeting, which was carried, to apply to the panel to have Abercrombie Road, Campbells River Road and Albion Street reviewed from a regional road to a state road and/or transferred to state ownership.

Councillors also delegated the general manager, Gary Wallace, the authority to lodge the applications through the Road Classification Portal.
Cr Andrew McKibbin said the roads in question are predominantly forest freight roads and "this is a great opportunity that we have to take".
The report to council referenced the Minister for Regional Roads Paul Toole and the NSW Government's commitment to review up to 15,000 kilometres of the regional road network with a view to changing a vast percentage of roads from a regional road classification to state roads.
