Personal trainer Shannon Nevin founded the Walk 'n' Talk for Life movement because he had seen how beneficial exercise can be for depression and anxiety.
He also understands how invaluable connecting community and sharing love and compassion can be for mental health.
The first Walk 'n' Talk for Life free event will be held at Oberon on Saturday, September 12 at 3pm at the Oberon Common.
Oberon Rotary and Oberon Council's Community Services team are supporting the initiative, which they say was brought to their attention by Lincoln Briffa.
"We encourage everyone to join us - the young and not-so-young," a spokesperson said.
"There will be two levels of walks or you may just wish to sit and chat or help out.
"Everyone will need to register and comply with all the COVID-19 protocols."
