The weather probably had a bit to do with that; nevertheless, the 12-hole social handicap golf is proving very good for the club.
Joe Casey had a good afternoon with the sticks and his 29 points got him the win. Balls went to Don Miller, Ken Maddison, Eric Whalan, Anthony Borton, Rob Webb and Blake Miller.
Saturday was a cold, wintry, wet day and only 26 of the keenest golfers fronted up for a game.
Despite the poor conditions, Dave Sellers had a marvellous round of 42 points to win A grade. Runner-up Barry Lang wasn't too far behind with 40 points.
The boys in B grade found it a bit harder going. Luke Christie-Johnston was the B grade winner with 34 points. Hugh O'Neil was the runner-up with 31 points.
Balls went to Hamish Anderson, Darren Gordon, Chris Lord and Dom York.
Golf on Saturday will be a stableford event.
There has been plenty of work on the course during the winter months, but there is always more to do. If anyone is looking to help out, call Mick English for some direction.
I know he could do with a hand to plant a few trees.
