POLICE say a group of people who were reported lost within a national park near Oberon have been found safe and well.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District received reports at about 5.30pm on Sunday that 10 people had become lost within the Abercrombie National Park, south of Oberon.
Police were told members of the group were occupying five vehicles, and had become lost after entering the park via Brass Walls Road.

Police say a multi-agency search started, but was suspended due to unsafe terrain, heavy rain and, at times, snow.
About 8am on Monday, emergency services were able to retrieve the group with the assistance of a local landowner, police say.
Police say no-one was injured as a result of the incident.
Police have reminded the public to always plan ahead when travelling in unfamiliar or remote areas.
"It was fortunate that in this instance they had phone reception and were able to communicate their geographical position via the Emergency Application, which resulted in a positive outcome," Chief Inspector Chris Sammut said.
"It is also important to note that weather can sometimes change quickly, and that needs to be taken into account before planning your trip to make sure you are prepared."
