ST Joseph's held its Easter Scavenger Hunt that had been postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Year 5 buddies helped pre-kinders find all the items on their list. Students took their bags of goodies home at the end of the day.
Students also played dress ups, shops, number and name recognition and made paper plate hens.
Pre Kinder
THIS week pre-kinder students practised their counting outside using numbered hopscotch squares. Their Year 5 buddies helped students jump in order.
This is a great way to learn while keeping warm while exercising.
Reconciliation
NATIONAL Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Last Wednesday was National Sorry Day. St Joseph's students recognised the significance of this day by discussing past injustices suffered by the Indigenous population and making beautiful artworks.
Storytime
LAST week all St Joseph's School classes were involved in the National Simultaneous Storytime.
It is an initiative from the Australian Library and Information Association to highlight books written by Australian authors. A colouring-in competition was held to promote the event.
Congratulations to Cailyn Taylor, Amber Kilby, Jack Kilby and Tiffany McGill for being the school's winners. To finish the Storytime, students participated in the chicken dance - an all time favourite. A wonderful first school event where reading was a focus.
Oberon High School
OBERON High School students and staff have celebrated National Reconciliation Week.
Every year, National Reconciliation Week is held between two significant milestones in Australia's history, the Referendum on May 27 (in 1967) and the recognition of Native Land Title in the Mabo High Court case on June 3 (1992).
This year, the students watched a video of Indigenous students at our school expressing pride in their heritage, listened to an overview about Reconciliation Week and watched the film In my Blood It Runs. The story engaged students who recognised the struggle of one Indigenous boy to honour his heritage.
Oberon Public School
K-2 students participated in National Simultaneous Storytime held by the Australian Library and Information Association. This year's story, Whitney and Britney, Chicken Divas, written and read aloud by Lucinda Gifford, was very entertaining and funny.
There were lots of giggles in our infants classrooms.
