At least 47 babies were born in the area, according to child and family health nurse Lee Hagan, but there might have been others born outside the area who have returned to Oberon.
FOOLs (Friends of Oberon Library) continues to present each new arrival with a Welcome Baby Bag - a gift for new mums, who appreciate the useful and fun contents.
IN OTHER NEWS:
They contain locally hand-knitted booties, toiletries, bath toys and, of course, baby's first books to suit their age and set them on the path to enjoying reading. Brochures on caring for baby's health are included.
FOOLs finances this community service from the proceeds of the sale of secondhand books kindly donated by the community, or culled from the library when new books arrive.
Following FOOLs' AGM, members resolved to continue to hold four meetings a year - in December, March, June and September.
FOOLs will continue the Welcome Baby Bags project and support library events.
