TWO local identities were recognised at the recent Oberon Rotary changeover dinner.
Craig Gibbons, commander of the SES Oberon Unit, received the Rotary Community Service Award 2019.
Mr Gibbons is a busy man: he also volunteers as deputy group captain, trainer and assessor for the Oberon NSW Rural Fire Service, is a well-known businessman and, in his spare time, is an instructor of karate.
At the changeover dinner, Oberon Rotary's past president Glenn Stewart received a Paul Harris Award from the incoming 2019/20 president Lin Boswell.
The Rotary Club of Oberon spends most of its funds in the local community. Projects range from assistance to families with a special need to environmental projects.
Over the year, the club has rewarded local businesses for excellence and individuals for outstanding community service. Young people are sponsored to participate in the various personal development and leadership courses under Rotary's banner.
New members are always welcome.
