At its ordinary meeting in May, council selected its preferred plan for the extension of the library, with the addition to be constructed in the direction of the dental surgery on Dart Street.
At last week's council meeting, a rescission motion was carried that the resolution be replaced by a preferred option for the extension.
The alternative option is to extend the library building into Dart Street in a way that will prevent the demolition of the old dental surgery. The extension will follow an existing roof line.

Council says the preferred option does not interfere with the future expansion of the proposed Community Hub and will reduce construction costs to approximately $330,000.
Council says the new option will enable council to fulfil the commitment to the NSW Public Libraries funding agreement.
Speaking on the rescission motion, Cr Andrew McKibbin said council had a very short timeframe to make a decision.
"We did not have adequate time to think about it," he said. "We should have had an inspection of the library."
Cr Ian Doney said although he voted for option two at the May meeting, he was not happy with his decision on the night.
Cr Kerry Gibbons said council is spending a lot of money and "we want value for money on the space".
OTHER COUNCIL NEWS:
Council says the objective of the project is to create additional space to enable more community members and visitors to use the library comfortably and in more varied ways, including activities such as storytime, author talks, group meetings, digital access, computer lessons in the Community Technology Centre space, community functions and exhibition spaces.
Council says it will also expand the way the library is used by young people aged 12 to 18 years.
The extension plan aims to preserve the traditional functions of the library by providing a quiet place for older people to enjoy the facility and promote young people's interest in library activities.
