And readers were quick to grab their cameras to capture the scene.
The snow started falling on Monday night and forced the closure of several roads on Tuesday morning.

The freezing conditions also prompted a sheep grazier's alert from the Bureau of Meteorology that remained in effect on Tuesday afternoon.
"Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, rain and showers and strong southerly winds are expected during Tuesday," the alert stated.
"Areas likely to be affected include the Hunter, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts and parts of the Mid North Coast, Northern Tablelands, South Coast and North West Slopes and Plains forecast districts.
"There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions."

Meanwhile, Oberon is bracing for more chilly conditions this week as winter really takes hold.
The temperature is forecast to drop below zero on Thursday and Friday mornings with top ranging from 9-12 degrees Celsius between now and next Monday.
There is a 50 per cent chance of up to 8mm of rain next Monday, the first sign of any significant rainfall in the forecast.
