COMMUNITY members, ex-serving personnel and visitors to Oberon gathered at the RSL Sub Branch Military Museum for Oberon's Anzac Day dawn service.
Oberon RSL Sub Branch president Bill Wilcox estimated more than 400 people attended the service.
He said it is great to see the community honour the sacrifices of the men and women of Australia's armed services.
"Anzac Day attendance numbers continue to grow and more young people are honouring and acknowledging the bravery and sacrifice of members of Australia's armed services - past and present," he said.
The special guest speaker was Glenn Miles from the Royal Australian Navy, who travelled from Canberra.
Pastor Jo from the Christian Life Centre led the crowd in prayer and the Australian anthem was led by Chloe Swannell. Domino Cove sang the New Zealand national anthem and the Turkish national anthem was sung by a member of the Australian Ataturk Cultural Centre.
Following the dawn service, many enjoyed a breakfast prepared by board members of the Oberon RSL Club for a gold coin donation, with the money donated to Legacy.
Later in the morning, a huge gathering of locals and visitors assembled at the Council Chambers in the main street of Oberon and marched to the Oberon RSL Club Sub Branch memorial.
Marchers included war veterans and family members, firefighters, Rural Bush Fire Brigade members, State Emergency Service personnel, school-children, Oberon Rugby League Football Club members and players and members of the Australian Ataturk Cultural Centre and many locals, who all laid wreaths.
Mr Wilcox will be travelling to Vietnam in July to mark a very personal 50-year anniversary from his time in the Vietnam War.
He will be accompanied by members of the OZY Youth Choir and he is inviting anyone in the Oberon community who is interested in joining the choir to come with them to Vietnam.
"We are expecting to leave around July 20," he said.
Members of the choir will perform at the Military Museum on Sunday, May 19 from noon and Mr Wilcox welcomes all to come along to meet the members.
