RMS says it has temporarily put on hold stage two of planned maintenance work while it reviews plans for the delivery and timing of the project.
During the stage one upgrades there were no lane closures, only a reduction in speed limits, with delays of up to five minutes.
A temporary barrier has been installed on the bridge deck and there is a reduced speed zone of 60 kilometres per hour in place. This will be reviewed next week, according to RMS.
The second stage of maintenance work includes removing the temporary barrier on the bridge deck and replacing it with a new permanent precast concrete and steel barrier.
In addition to this, there will be concrete kerb and deck repair work, according to RMS.
"Crews will return to complete the work later in 2019 and the community will be kept updated about when the remaining work will start," an RMS spokesperson said.
