THERE were lots of people at the golf course this week.

The club hosted the Oberon Council Golf Day that attracted more than 200 golfers.

The highlight of the day was the hole-in-one shootout on the first hole for the chance to win a Caterpillar excavator.

Thursday afternoon golf had a group of 16. Peter Ryan was closest to the pin on the first hole and Peter Dale won the afternoon with a good score of 28 points.

The competition on Saturday was a stroke event playing for the monthly medal and a putting competition. Anthony McGrath had an excellent round on a pretty tough set-up of the course and won A grade with 81/68. Marty Hotham was runner-up with 80/70.

Bill Edwards has been in good touch the past couple of weeks and was the B grade winner with 91/69. Sean Mooney was the runner-up with a solid 89/70.

John McKinnon won the A grade scratch ball and Sean Mooney won the B grade scratch ball. Jason Sargent had a good day with the putter to win A grade putting with just 28 putts and Hugh O'Neil won B grade putting with 29 putts. Balls went to John McKinnon, Laurie Murphy, Neil Whalan, Jason Sargent and Barry Stubbs.

Golf on Saturday will be an 18-hole stableford and the following Saturday will be the Big Trout-sponsored Christmas Ambrose. Lithgow Open is on this Sunday.
