The event has been scheduled for December 8 and 9 and anglers from all across the state are expected to travel to Oberon to compete over the two days.
The Fishing Factory, a hunting and fishing store in Orange, is organising the event, and staff are expecting a strong turnout of around 50 to 60 teams to test their skills in kayak-based fishing, which is growing in popularity.
The event is another good result for tourism in Oberon.
Regional stakeholders are taking notice of some of the new tourism initiatives being undertaken in town, such as Oberon Outdoor Week and the Redfin Roundup, and creating their own spin-off events.
Round one of the Australian Redfin Championships is expected to generate approximately 100 to 150 visitor nights for the economy and Oberon will play host to a return round in early 2019 which will again bring the fishing fraternity to town.
