THERE was lots of activity at the golf course this week trying to keep up with the rapidly growing grass. The greens are recovering well after renovations and the warmth, combined with a little rain, has the fairways bouncing away.

A moderate field of 12 played the Thursday afternoon competition. Harold Lyme found some fine form with 30 points, closely followed by Peter Ryan with 29 points. Balls went to Allan Cairney and Hugh O'Neill.
On Saturday, members played an 18-hole stableford event for trophies kindly provided by Lean and Bennett, Lithgow Toyota. Scott Rowlandson had a fine round for 41 points to easily win A grade. Dom York, the winner last week, was the runner-up with a solid 39 points.
In B grade, Peter Griffiths was well clear of the field to win with 42 points. Laurie Murphy has been busting to get back to A grade and, with his round of 37 points, was B grade runner-up and made his way back to A grade.
Nearest the pin on the first hole was Scott Rowlandson. Alan Cairney won the 17th with a measure of 12 metres. Balls went to Dylan Kite, Rob McGrath, Mick English, Alan Cairney and Doug Collins.
Golf next Saturday will be a stroke round with trophies donated by Lithgow City Holden, Lean and Bennett. The Blue Mountains Championships will be held at Wentworth Falls on Sunday, November 11.
Members were saddened to hear of the passing of long-time member Ralph Harrison.
