THURSDAY golf was back in numbers this week: too many fair weather golfers. Alan Cairney was the winner with a handy round of 26 points. Balls went to Peter Ryan, Kevin Hally, Doug Collins and Peter Griffiths.
After some good soaking rain on Friday and overcast, showery weather on Saturday, the field was back on numbers. Golfers played an 18-hole stableford event combined with a 4BBB. Winner Dennis O'Connell had a fine round of 39 points. Kim Rawlings was out early and was runner-up with 37 points.
There were just a few who pulled up after nine holes because of the rain. Steve Serong was the nine-hole competition winner.
Dylan Harvey and Peter Hutchinson won the 4BBB with 47 points. Dennis O'Connell and Peter Ryan were the runners-up with 46 points. Nearest the pin on the first was Doug Collins, John McKinnon won the seventh and Kim Rawlings the ninth.
Balls went to Dylan Harvey, Scott Rowlandson, Harold Lyme, Andrew Lyme and Terry Robinson.
On Sunday, Oberon Golf Club entertained 28 members from the Oatlands Golf Club at Dundas. We had a marvellous time despite the cold, blustery wind. Oberon was too strong for the visitors and gained the bragging rights.
After the golf, we sat down to a beautiful meal prepared by the chef from Oatlands. Andrew Lyme had the best score for the men and Irene Bishop the best of the ladies. Golf next week is an 18-hole stableford.
