He has certainly had some very interesting and different experiences from most of us.
Each meeting the OGY competition continues to provide something of interest, even during these freezing winter months.
Seems you can always find something in the garden at any time of year.
The winner this time was a branch of orange flowered Witchhazel.
Its spidery little flowers provide a spot of interest when there isn't much else on offer, though people with hellebores are enjoying their display right now.
With spring just around the corner, we will soon have an enormous range of spectacular plants to choose from and the competition will ramp up a notch.
We were also pleased to welcome Joyce Ballinger and Fran Bentley as new club members.
This month’s meeting on Monday, August 20 at the Uniting Church Hall will be our last soup and damper gathering for the year.
As usual, morning tea will commence at 9.30am, followed by the meeting and the AGM.
Well-known journalist Fiona Ogilvie will be our guest speaker.
Some of our members will have visited her lovely garden and will be interested to hear how it was established.
As well, she will talk about her life in journalism and her extensive travels.
Should be a jam-packed meeting.
The usual cost of $6 applies to anyone not providing food.
New members are always welcome. Inquiries to Nancy on 6336 1225.
