To gain a scholarship, Jessica had to submit an application including a written essay, past and present leadership roles, community contributions, other relevant certificates and high school achievements, most recent academic transcripts and curriculum vitae.
Once the application is assessed, students attend a panel interview with senior management of the college.
Over 40 scholarships were awarded as part of the prestigious ICMS scholarship program, which gave out over $1 million last year, in conjunction with industry partners. These partnerships form the backbone of ICMS' commitment to career-focused education, an imperative that results in over 90 per cent of students employed in their field post-graduation.
ICMS scholarship winners represent nine suburbs of Sydney, eight regions of NSW, and 13 countries around the world.
ICMS offers a wide range of university-level undergraduate and post-graduate degrees and courses, including bachelor degrees in business management, hospitality management, events management, sports management, international tourism and property management. Industry training is key to the success of ICMS students, with work placements built into each course of study.
EASTER SHOW
THE Scots School Cattle Show Team had tremendous success at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, including with an Oberon-bred steer - an Angus steer bred by Mawhood's Sunny Point Pastoral Company.
Jake Mawhood led steer Bongongo Agrica, which weighed in at 469kg, with a rib and rump fat depth of 11mm and 13mm respectively. It cut out with a dressing of 53.8pc. At Sydney Royal, it was in the massive middleweight class (460kg-480kg) and placed fourth.
The steer went on to win the Virtual Taste Test in his class and then went on to take out the Champion Virtual Taste Test Trophy out of 180 steers.
A spokesperson for Scots School said the students were phenomenal.
"The work, commitment, maturity, leadership and dedication they show is amazing. Two mornings a week they turn up to cattle training at 7am – always with a smile, always with a willingness to work hard,” they said.
Other results included Claudia Humphries placing third in class 3 with a Limousin steer and Hugo Humphries placing fourth in class 6 with a Limousin steer.
"The word ‘proud’ doesn’t seem to be enough – they are a credit to themselves, their parents and the school,” the spokesperson said.
