A SMALLER field of keen golfers plied their trade on the course last Thursday afternoon. Harold Lyme continued his run of form to win the afternoon with 29 points. Balls went to Barry Stubbs, Hugh O'Neil, Peter Dale and Joe Casey.

There was a strong field of golfers turn up on Saturday for the second round of the 4BBB Par Championships, playing for the Jack Robinson Memorial Shield.
The Robinson clan make this weekend a big reunion event. They play nine holes of golf, have lunch and dinner together and present the trophy. Jack Robinson was a life-long member and great contributor to the club during his life.
Again, the pairing of grandfather and grandson was far too good for the rest of the field. Don Miller and Blake Miller added a round of +12 to their first round of +15 to easily win the championship. I believe that +27 would be a record score for a win in the 4BBB Par Championships. The runners-up and well back was the pairing of Dennis O'Connell and Eric Whalan with a +9 and +7 to give them a total of +16. Nearest the pin on the first went to Bill Wilcox, Brian Balaam was closest on the seventh, Eric Whalan won the ninth and Kevin Whalan the 17th. Balls went to Doug Collins and Barry Stubbs, Bill Wilcox and Mick McKechnie, Laurie Murphy and Anthony McGrath, John and Brett Crichton. Golf next Saturday will be an 18-hole stableford event.
On Sunday the Masters and the Senior pennants teams traveled to Wentworth Falls to play Blackheath. The Wentworth Falls course was in excellent condition despite the very dry conditions. Our senior pennant team of Kyall Ryan, Robert Hayden, Tim Crichton, Darren Gordon and Brett Crichton all put in a good effort but were defeated 3 and 2.
The masters team made up of Barry Lang, Kim Rawlings, Alan Cairney, Eric Whalan, Adrian Poulten and Laurie Murphy put in a very good showing only to go down 3 1/2 to 2 1/2. Next week both pennant teams will play Lithgow at Leura.
All our golfers are reminded that the veterans Macquarie Challenge is coming up the first week of March and the Pro Am the following week. It would be good to have a good representation of locals in both events.
