It has won a grant worth $12,300, made available from the Community Building Partnership (CBP) Fund.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole took time out during his visit to the Oberon Show to deliver the good news to Oberon Men’s Shed members as their clubhouse is located in the grounds of the showground.
Oberon Men’s Shed president Roy Smith welcomed the funding and is now looking forward to using the money to add an awning to their headquarters.
“We’re looking at about 25 square metres of extra space, which will come in very handy,” Mr Smith said. “It will be an outdoor area where we can get work done and also a place for a barbecue.
“Now the funding has been approved we can get cracking. We’re ready to go.
“Essentially, the local men’s shed is a place where a bunch of mates can meet and catch up, but we also love our woodworking and do a pretty good job repairing bicycles and selling them.”
