The Thursday afternoon 12-hole competition attracted a good field of 17. Don Miller was the man of the moment this week and with a good round he was too strong for the rest of the field. Balls went to Doug Collins, Kim Rawlings, Barry Stubbs, Alan Cairney, Mark Booth, Paul Behan and Roger Arrow.
Despite the weather being a bit overcast and threatening rain, there was a reasonable field of golfers on Saturday. The greens are great, even though the hot weather has been a challenge for staff.
John McKinnon has been his usual reliable self and produced a good round of 38 points to win A grade. Alan Cairney had a solid round for runner-up with 35 points. Harold Lyme, who has been hitting the ball well lately, won B grade with the good score of 38 points. The runner-up was Kevin McGrath.
Nearest the pin on the first was Alan Cairney, Kim Rawlings honed in on the seventh, Doug Collins hit a nice one to the ninth and the 17th was Neil Whalan once again. Balls went to Barry Stubbs, Darren Gordon, Kim Rawlings, Terry Robinson and Laurie Murphy. Golf on Saturday will be an 18-hole par event.
Central West Veterans will play at Oberon on Monday, January 22. Make an effort to have Oberon well-represented. Ladies are also encouraged to join the day.
Don't forget the club is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The chef is gaining a very good reputation.
