There was a strong field of golfers out on the course on Thursday. Sean Mooney showed his natural talent to the rest of the boys and it was enough for him to win. Balls went to Laurie Murphy, Peter Dale, Graham Hotham, Marty Hotham and Don Miller.
On Saturday, members played for the monthly medal in a stroke round. The day was a big improvement on the previous Saturday, and the course is showing the benefit of the rain. A moderate sized field played in great conditions, with many of the scores reflecting the good going.
Marty Hotham was on song, producing a fine round of 80/69 to win A grade and the monthly medal. Darren Gordon showed a much-awaited return to form to be runner-up with a good round of 82/70.
Lloyd Roots is blossoming as a golfer, winning B grade with a fine round of 93/68. He was also the medal winner for B grade. Runner-up was Peter Ryan with 88/71. Nearest the pin on the first went to Barry Lang, on the seventh to Peter Ryan, Hamish Anderson took the ninth and Brett Crichton the 17th.
Balls went to Darren Gordon, Rob McGrath, John McKinnon, Barry Stubbs and Neil Whalan.
The final of the match play was played between Rob McGrath and Adrian Poulten. Adrian regained his composure after being four down after four holes to win on the 18th hole and be crowned 2017 match play champion.
Golf next Saturday is the Big Trout-sponsored Christmas Ambrose. It is a great opportunity to try your hand at golf. We will put you in a team if you don't have one. It is a great day of fun with some wonderful trophies on offer.
On Sunday, 12 of our members travelled to Lithgow and played in their Open. While none of the crew won any trophies, all enjoyed the day out.
Don't forget that the golf club dining room is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. To make a booking, contact Jana on 0407 209 170.
