A TOTAL fire ban and severe fire danger have been declared for the Oberon local government area on Saturday due to very dry conditions and predicted hot weather.

Hot temperatures are predicted across of the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Chifley/Lithgow Team region which includes Oberon, Bathurst and Lithgow.
A windy top of 27 degrees is predicted for Oberon on Saturday.
RFS Chifley/Lithgow Team Operational Officer Brett Taylor said the severe rating covers the Bathurst, Oberon and Lithgow local government areas.
“All fire permits are suspended,” he said.
An Incident Management Team will be on standby at the Bathurst Fire Control centre on Saturday.
During severe fire danger, the NSW RFS website states: “Well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety”.
“But, only stay if you are physically and mentally prepared to defend in these conditions.”
