Just a dozen golfers braved it for Thursday golf, although they did manage to play the least windy 12 holes.
Barry Stubbs was back after a break and had 33 points for the 12 holes and that is a good effort.
He tells me the better half suggested he really only needs to play once a month if he scored that well after a break.
Joe Casey and Billy Wilcox won themselves a ball each.
After a big frost on Saturday, some of the greens were frozen well into the afternoon. A good field of 35 enjoyed the sunshine that a frost brings.
Barry Lang was back after a break of a couple of weeks and showed a bit of form to win A grade with 38 points. Kyall Ryan was the runner-up with 37 points.
Bruce Amery enjoyed a bit of good company and had a marvellous round to win B grade with 40 points.
Andrew Lyme was the runner-up with a solid 35 points.
The highlight of the day was Alan Cairney's eagle on the 16th hole. It was just as well there were witnesses to the ball rolling off the bank into the cup or nobody would have believed it.
Balls went to 34 points. Scott Rowlandson, Barry Stubbs, Bob Slattery, Roger Arrow, Anthony McGrath and Peter Ryan all won themselves a ball.
Golf next Saturday will be an 18-hole stableford event.
The club is in negotiations for a new ground superintendent. This should be finalised in the near future.
