A FOOTBALL program with more than 44,000 participants worldwide will start up in Bathurst later this month.
Rugbytots, which got its start in the United Kingdom, aims to get children five years of age and under engaged in some kind of physical activity.
Jay Waite, who has brought the program to Bathurst, sees it as a way to give back to the community.
“My background is rugby league and Oztag. I just had a shoulder reconstruction and I thought it’d be good to give back and work with the under fives to help grassroots rugby,” he said.
The skills young kids will learn have been taken from rugby league and rugby union and will target hand-eye co-ordination and motor skills.
The program will run every Saturday during the school term, with sessions lasting 45 minutes.
It will be open to all children within the age limit.
Classes will start on July 22. Places are limited, so parents are encouraged to book as soon as possible.
