Last week, Minister for Lands and Forestry Paul Toole and Minister for Planning and Housing Anthony Roberts announced that Borg had been given approval to expand its timber processing facility in Oberon.
The expansion will create 230 jobs during the construction phase, 70 ongoing jobs once completed and inject about $106 million into the local economy.
Mr Charge said the stimulus would go beyond job creation.
”Borg’s $106 million expansion will have significant ramifications for the town of Oberon,” he said.
“The increased employment opportunities will have a significant flow-on effect, creating additional retail and hospitality jobs, as well as increasing housing demand.
“This strong investment in Oberon, shows that Borg’s are committed for the long-term.”
The timber industry is the largest employer in the Oberon area, providing work for around 500 people.
