Oberon police say the property owner came across a 23-year-old Burraga man attempting to steal a large number of his sheep on August 18.
It is alleged that when the property owner, on a quad bike, tried to stop the man, the 23-year-old drove his ute directly at the property owner.
The property owner’s quad bike was pushed quite a distance backwards, according to police, before the 23-year-old physically attacked the property owner and threatened him with a knife.
The 23-year-old fled the scene and police from Trunkey, Oberon and Bathurst responded.
Police tracked down the offender at Perthville, near Bathurst.
The property owner was in shock for quite a while, police say.
After further investigations, the 23-year-old has been charged with a number of offences including using a weapon, assault, intimidation, stealing cattle, as well as firearms and driving offences.
