The Thursday afternoon 12 hole competition was well patronised and some very good scores were registered.
Laurie Murphy came out of a bad patch, put the driver on ice and showed some excellent form.
Laurie had 31 points for the 12 holes. Doug Collins, Bill Wilcox, Irene Bishop, Brian Beesley, Barry Stubbs, Paul Behan and Richard Gear all won themselves a ball.
Saturday golf drew a good field on a very pleasant day for golf.
While the greens and tees are in pretty good condition, the fairways are hard and giving lots of run.
Anthony McGrath had a great day out and won A grade with the good score of +6.
He just pipped Laurie Murphy, who was runner-up with +6.
The B grade golfers were really shown how it is done with the exceptional score of +9 by Mick McKechnie.
Billy Gascoigne, who claimed +6, can count himself hard done by to be runner-up to such a good score.
Mick was playing the final of the match play against Steve Serong. Steve had no chance with Mick scoring so well.
Nearest the pins were very tight this week, with all four par threes around the one metre mark.
Kim Rawlings won the first at 1.04 metres, Dennis O’Connell the seventh at 48 centimetres, Robert Hayden the ninth at 98cm and Graham Hotham the 17th at only 94cm from the pin.
Balls went to Dick O’Donnell, Wayne Sellers, Ray Ross, Kevin McGrath, Kevin Whalan, Thomas McKinnon, Marty Hotham, Bart Fitzpatrick and Dennis O’Connell.
Golf next Saturday will be a 4BBB stableford event and individual. There will also be a mixed 4BBB event.
This is the qualifying round to go on to play the district round at Blackheath, and will be scored as a par.
Members are reminded that nominations are now open for board positions.
There are nomination forms in the clubhouse. Members are also reminded that the Club Championships will be played in April after Easter.
