John McKinnon hit the ball well and played an excellent round to win A grade, the monthly medal and the A grade scratch ball – 76/71 is a great score.
Adrian Poulten was not far behind with a round of 83/72 to be A grade runner-up.
It was a good omen for the Rabbits when Billy Wilcox’s solid round of 87/69 won B grade and the monthly medal.
Doug Curry (86/69) was the runner-up on a countback. Doug also took the B grade scratch ball.
McKinnon had a stellar day, also winning the A grade putting with 30 putts. Kevin Whalan won the B grade putting with 32 putts.
Nearest the pin on the first went to Barry Lang (1.6 metres); Barry Hore, back from his northern winter jaunt, won the seventh; McKinnon was only 1.3 metres on the ninth and Terry Robinson was too good on the 17th.
Balls went to Anthony McGrath, Robinson and Hore.
A small crew played a three-stick event on Monday.
Doug Collins was the winner on 38 points, followed closely by Dennis O’Connell on 37 points.
These two should sell the rest of their bag of clubs because this is the best score either of them has had for some time.
A strong field of golfers played the 12-hole Thursday competition.
Sean Mooney had a very good day, winning with 30 points.
Balls went to Graham Hotham, Hore, Collins and Peter Dale.
Golf next Saturday will be a stableford event.
Members are reminded that Lithgow Open is on next Sunday and we would like to have a strong representation from Oberon there.
The following Sunday is the Blue Mountains Championships at Henbury and again it would be good to have a good Oberon representation there.
