The team at the Oberon Depot have been congratulated for winning the competition that measures performance in areas including operations, safety and customer service.
The crew placed first in the small division category, beating 33 teams from across the Essential Energy footprint, which covers 95 per cent of New South Wales.
South-eastern regional manager Phillip Green praised the efforts of the team.
“Results like this don’t come easy, and I know the crew from Oberon has put in a lot of work to improve performance across a number of areas critical to business operations and service to the community,” he said.
“When it comes to providing an essential service critical to our communities, 24-hours a day, seven days a week, they have delivered across the board.”
For their commitment to improving service, safety and performance, the team from Oberon was given the opportunity to donate $2000 to a local community group.
“The great thing about the Depot Challenge Cup is that it motivates every single employee in the depot to work to better their performance, while at the same time providing them with a big incentive – the chance to give back to the local communities in which they live and work,” Mr Green said.
The Oberon team decided to donate their winnings to Can Assist Oberon who provide financial assistance and practical support to people in the local area affected by cancer.
Can Assist Oberon president Max Sward thanked the team and congratulated them on the win.
“The great part about this donation from the local Essential Energy crew is that all the money raised in Oberon stays in Oberon, so every dollar really does make a difference,” he said.
“Without the support of the Oberon community and organisations like Essential Energy, we couldn’t do what we do.”
