Under 12s: Charlie Bailey and Aidan Sheppard were fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in the Group 10 Under 12s development team.
The team comprised of two players from each participating club within the group.
Group 10 coach John Fernley and team provided skills in ball handling, defence and reading the game during their training sessions.
The boys enjoyed these sessions, gaining valuable development.
A gala weekend was held in Bathurst on June 6 and 7.
The boys played three games over the weekend. Charlie played centre and fullback position, and Aidan was wing and halfback.
Both boys enjoyed the games and delivered good performances in their games.
Charlie and Aidan enjoyed all aspects of this opportunity, and their parents Liz Bailey and David and Kelly Sheppard would like to thank the Oberon Tigers committee and the Group 10 committee for selecting their sons for this opportunity.
Under 15s: Oberon’s Jayden Fagg was selected in Group 10 under 15s side.
The team came away from the NSW Country Southern pool championship with a runnersup finish after being beaten 10-0 by the imposing Group 9 side in the final tournament held in Ulladulla.
Coach Martin Power said the Group 10 side opened their carnival with an outstanding 20-0 shut-out of Group 20 to progress to the cup semi-final.
“It was a very good weekend all up and there was some impressive efforts. I thought Nick Wilkinson from Cowra was very good and Jayden Fagg, our fullback from Oberon, was another stand-out, but really all the boys played strongly,” Power said.
“They don’t pick a Country team for under 15s, but still there would of been coaches and officials there who would be keeping an eye on how all these boys play.”
Also representing Oberon in Group 10 were Blake Ryan from under 14s.
