Thursday golf was won by Hugh O’Neill. Harold Lyme and Russell King won themselves balls for their effort.
On Saturday, after much deliberation around the club house, it was decided to play 12 holes to avoid the failing light and cold evening.
Young Chris Lord wasn’t fazed by the damp conditions and registered a very good score of 28 points for the 12 holes to win the day. Laurie Murphy was a distant runner-up on 20 points.
Adrian Poulten won himself a ball. Mick English was nearest the pin on the ninth hole and Barry Lang was nearest with his second shot on the 18th.
Golf next Saturday will be a stroke event, members playing for the monthly medal. Don’t forget the putting comp – count your putts. Trophies will be provided by Robert McGrath.
The next week, July 13, will be a stableford event with trophies donated by Dick O’Donnell.
Members are reminded that presentation night will be on Friday, July 19. There is a sheet in the club to put your name down.
Presentation night will be a Christmas in July dinner and the ladies catering will need to know numbers.
A working bee is planned for Sunday, July 21. The plan is to fill some of the deeper depressions in the fairways.
Next Friday night will be the normal first Friday of the month evening and dinner at the club. Bring your friends.
Some of our regulars will be away, so we need to swell the numbers.
