The incident caused flooding on Bradwardine Road on Sunday, February 1, 2026, and crews remained there until around 1am on Monday trying to fix the pipe, but had to return later in the day to continue the work.
Initially, Bathurst council thought the damage was to a 300mm water main that feeds the Nightmarch Parade reservoir, however, further investigation determined this was not the problem.

Instead, it was a 375mm pipe that's a supplementary water supply pipeline for Windradyne.
As a result, some residents and businesses might experience a reduction in both pressure and water flow rate while the repairs are being completed.
Repairs are expected to be completed on Tuesday, February 3, with Bradwardine Road to be closed while crews carry out the work.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1
A BURST water main has led to considerable flooding near the Bathurst cemetery, seeing traffic control measures put in place while the issue is resolved.
Bathurst Regional Council was notified of the issue on Bradwardine Road, Windradyne sometime in the evening on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
According to the council, a 300mm water main that feeds the Nightmarch Parade reservoir has burst, which has resulted in water gushing onto the road near the cemetery.
Multiple council workers are at the site and are attempting to resolve the issue.
The burst main is not expected to impact residential or commercial water supply, but there will be substantial water in the area until supply pumps can be turned off and the pipe is drained.

The repairs will take several hours to complete, a council spokesperson said.
Traffic control is in place on Bradwardine Road, but motorists should avoid the area where possible.
