Whether your child is a sporting superstar in the making or simply keen to try something new with friends, now is the perfect time to register for their chosen activity so they don't miss out on a spot.

The sign-up season also aligns with the availability of the latest NSW government Active and Creative Kids voucher that helps support eligible parents and guardians with the cost of sport, recreational, creative or cultural activities.

You can apply for a new $50 voucher from January 15, 2026. The voucher is available twice a year with the second voucher available from July 15.

Mother-of-three Heather Bryant said the Active and Creative Kids vouchers are much appreciated in their household.

"My children are enrolled in a range of sports and activities, my daughter who is 12 loves playing soccer, my 10-year-old son loves karate and art classes while my seven-year-old does dancing and swimming lessons," she said.

"The vouchers certainly help with the cost and for us it has made the difference between them having to choose just one activity or being able to sign them up for a couple of different things."

To be eligible for the voucher, a child must be:

  • A NSW resident
  • Aged between four-and-a-half and 18 years
  • Under the care of a parent, guardian or carer who is receiving in the current or previous financial year Family Tax Benefit Part A, Family Tax Benefit Part B or both

You can use the voucher for eligible activities such as dance, music, football/soccer, martial arts, craft, gymnastics, visual arts, painting, drawing, drama, tennis, rugby league, singing, basketball, languages, netball, yoga, creative writing, choreography, circus arts and coding.

The vouchers must be used with a registered activity provider, and they must be redeemed before the expiry date on the voucher.

To apply you need a MyServiceNSW account, then go to service.nsw.gov.au or log in to the Service NSW app and select the 'apply online' button. Follow the prompts to apply and once successful your voucher will appear in your 'vouchers' section of the app and you will also receive an email with the voucher to download and print. If you're unable to apply online, call 13 77 88.

"It's quite a simple process to apply for the vouchers," Heather said. "You may think it's only $50 but it certainly gives you quite a saving if you use two a year for multiple children."
