A man is recovering from a stabbing attack after he was allegedly approached by a stranger and assaulted with a fork.

The 28-year-old man was sitting on a footpath in Bowen Hills, a suburb in Brisbane's inner north, at 10.30pm on November 1 when he was approached by the alleged attacker.

The attacker allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck with a fork after the pair had an argument, Queensland Police said.
"A verbal altercation occurred," police said.
"The other man allegedly stabbed him in the neck with a fork."
Investigators were told that the victim did not know his alleged attacker.
The victim was sitting on a Mallon Street footpath, a short street north of Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, during the alleged attack.
He was taken to the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital for treatment and remains in a stable condition.
A 33-year-old man from Bowen Hills was arrested.
He was charged with one count of acting with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one count of common assault.
He is due to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 3.
