A 12-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly stealing a car from a Kelso home and becoming involved in a police chase.

Police were called at about 9.15am on Thursday, October 30, with reports of a car allegedly being stolen from a garage on Katandra Place, Kelso.
Police began to patrol the area and found the stolen vehicle on Bannerman Cresent, Kelso.
When the car failed to stop, a police pursuit began and continued through multiple streets.
The pursuit ended when the car crashed into a bollard and became partly suspended in the car.
The 12-year-old driver was found to be uninjured, and was then arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station.

He was charged with:
- enter dwelling with intent (steal)
- take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
- police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly.
The boy was refused bail and appeared before a Children's Court later the same day, October 30.
He was granted conditional bail and instructed he will have to reappear on Friday, December 12, 2025.
