Patrolling police officers saw the man collapse outside a BP service station on the corner of Princes Freeway and Potter Street in Dandenong, in Melbourne's south-east suburbs, at 4.50am.

The man was found suffering a number of stab wounds, police said.
He was treated by paramedics but died at he scene.
"At this early stage, it appears that the incident may have occurred at a nearby residence on Potter Street, before the man fled the address on foot," Victoria Police said.
"The exact circumstances surrounding the man's death are yet to be established."
Detectives believe the man was killed in a targeted attack, and early evidence suggested that he was attacked in a nearby unit.
The man has not yet been formally identified, but investigators believe the victim was 39 years old.
Any witnesses to the alleged murder, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage of the area, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers as the investigation continues.
