A new community information centre has opened in Mudgee, giving residents a chance to learn about the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission project and its impact on the region.

Located at 30-32 Church Street, formerly occupied by Rockmans, the spot is designed to be a one-stop shop for locals looking to understand how the large-scale infrastructure project is unfolding.
Inside are maps, diagrams and construction updates, along with a meeting space for briefings and presentations. There is also information on employment, local business opportunities and landowner support.
The initiative is a collaboration between ACEREZ, the company responsible for designing, building and maintaining the REZ transmission network, and EnergyCo, the NSW Government's coordinating authority for renewable energy zones.
ACEREZ Chief Executive Officer Steve Masters said the centre was built with the community in mind.
"ACEREZ is thrilled to open the doors of our new hub and invite the community in for a cuppa while learning all about the transmission network," he said.
"The Community Information Centre in Mudgee will be a one-stop shop to meet our team, learn about the project, follow its progress and provide feedback."
The centre will be staffed by ACEREZ team members from Tuesday to Thursday each week, excluding public holidays, and will also host special events and activities at other times.
EnergyCo Central-West Orana REZ Project Director Peter Bennett said the centre was part of a broader commitment to community engagement.
"The opening of the Community Information Centre in Mudgee marks a significant step in our commitment to transparency and community engagement," he said.
"EnergyCo is proud to support ACEREZ in creating a space for the community to access important information as the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project progresses."
